By 2025, prevent and significantly reduce all forms of marine pollution, in particular from land-based activities, including water pollution from the spillage of marine litter and food waste.

Istanbul Leather and Leather Products Exporters' Association plans to play a role in supporting Goal 14 by prioritizing the responsible sourcing of raw materials and advocating sustainable production practices in the leather and leather products industry. IDMIB will contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of marine resources by ensuring that material procurement does not contribute to overfishing or other harmful practices, and by minimizing pollution and waste in production processes.

Istanbul Leather and Leather Products Exporters' Association;

  1. Pollution prevention: It will promote pollution prevention measures in the leather and leather products industry to minimize the release of pollutants into the environment. This may include promoting the use of environmentally friendly chemicals, implementing wastewater treatment systems, and supporting the research and development of clean production technologies.
  2. Waste reduction and recycling: It will encourage its members to minimize waste generation and encourage recycling initiatives. It may include implementing waste management systems, exploring opportunities for reuse or upcycling of waste from the manufacture of leather and leather products, and supporting initiatives that support circular economy principles.
  3. Collaboration with stakeholders: It will cooperate with relevant stakeholders such as suppliers, producers and environmental organizations to develop and implement initiatives that contribute to the protection of the seas. It may include participating in industry-wide programs, sharing best practices, and supporting research and development efforts related to sustainable sourcing and manufacturing.
  4. Producer awareness: It will increase producer awareness of the importance of responsible sourcing and production practices in relation to the protection of the seas. It can include providing information on sustainable alternatives, promoting green choices, and collaborating to ensure transparency in the supply chain.
